Wrapping Things Up

As our design process comes to a close, we wish for some of our thoughts to be heard. First being some problems with the final product and complications it may have being transfered onto the front cover of Athena at Night.

Turning in a hand drawn font on paper helps keep the human aspect of creating that font, similar to the argument behind “masculine” books found in Benton’s essay “Typography and Gender: Remasculating the Modern Book”, but transferring those letters to another page could create some discrepancies between the two that might impact the font in a negative way. If, on the other hand, they were to be scanned and digitally replicated onto the cover of the book, we start to lose some of the uniqueness behind each interpreters mind. If it were to be chosen, we wish for the font to be hand drawn, similarly to how the art in the book was created, while paying close attention to the subtle details found within.

Another problem is the color of the font itself. Choosing the color of the pipes and pipe connectors are ultimately up to the liberty of the artist but we recommend silver pipes with copper pipe connectors. This gives a good accent to the dark background of the cover of Athena at Night while keeping the colors of typical pipes.

We would like to thank you following our process behind designing Confluidity. Any comments can be made on the main page or sub pages. We appreciate any and all feedback.
